Place worth visiting near Marseille – Route des Cretes La Ciotat Cassis
Marseille has a lot to offer for the visitors. Variety of monuments, beautiful beaches, interesting attractions and amazing views can assure you not to get bored. However, being in Marseille and staying just in the city itself would be a sin! You should find at least one day to get out of the big metropolis to see what’s around.

I totally recommend visiting Cassis (you can read about this village in my post here) and another village next to it, La Ciotat, but I would also encourage you to check an amazing view spot between them.

The road connecting two towns – Cassis and La Ciotat, called Route des Cretes La Ciotat Cassis is definitely a place worth visiting. You will be able to see the city La Ciotat in all it’s glory – from the top of a mountain. On the way, there are few photoshoot places with parking for the car. The view is breathtaking and you can take amazing pictures without being scared of falling or getting too close to the edge.

During my visit in one of the stops in Route des Cretes La Ciotat Cassis , I was lucky to experience professional rock climbers reaching the top of the mountain. I really admired their courage and skills, I think I would be too afraid to do that! Well, the differences between people make the world more beautiful 🙂

Despite the amazing view, both the road as well as the photo spots are quite empty. I was there when the sky was cloudy and rainy and during off-season period (at the beginning of May) so maybe that’s the reason but I believe not many tourists know this place.

I must say that the beauty of those viewpoints is created by a nature which remained there. There is not a single shop or even bench where to sit, the spots are full of bushes through which you need to wade to get to the right point. It is a perfect place for a “wild” lunch (which you bring with you of course) with a splendid view.
