Alexander III Bridge – place of Adele’s video clip
The Alexander III Bridge is not just a gangway connecting two riverbanks of Seine but it’s an elegant, gilded place with an amazing view on each site of the city and bustling passage under it. It is a spot of many wedding photographs, scenes of movies ( for example James Bond movie or last scene of Midnight in Paris) or video clips like Say Somethin of Mariah Carey & Snoop Dogg or Someone Like You Adele.

There are many ways to get to the bridge, I would say all roads lead to the Alexander III Bridge. The location between les Invalides ( old hospital with gold domes, currently a military museum of arms), 20 minutes walking from Eiffel Tower (with amazing view into it) and Le Grand Palais and Le Petit Palais just next to it (which leads to the Champs Elysées, on one side and Place de la Concorde on the other) makes a spot you cannot missed during your sightseeing of Paris.

The bridge named after Tsar Alexander III, who had concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance in 1892 and whose son, Nicholas II, laid the foundation stone in October 1896. That’s why it houses the emblems of France and the Russian Empire.
“This resulted in a very low 40 meters wide bridge with a single 107.5 meters long span and a height of only 6 meters.”
Le Pont Alexandre III was designed by the architects Joseph Cassien-Bernard and Gaston Cousin for Exposition Universelle of 1900.

Crossing the bridge by foot once is not enough. You should check it out from every side, every corner and every direction. It is full of amazing statues of nymphs, fames, lions, cherubs, maidens and everytime you walk on it you will see something new.

“On each end of the Pont Alexandre III are large gilded statues on 17 meters (56 ft) high granite pillars. Each of the ornaments on the bridge was created by a different artist.”

This magnificent place is hiding more secrets than you can expect. The passage under the bridge is a vibrant, crowded meeting spot of many parisians who come there to spend time with their friends and families. You can bring drinks and snacks or have a meal in one of open-air restaurant. Bar on the boats, good music and amazing view into the bridge is a perfect location for spending your Sunday afternoon.

It is also a place of many events. Last year I was lucky to participate in the celebration of 14 July, the national day of France, and to see a military parade which walked from the Champs Elysées through the Alexander III Bridge. Many policemen and military forces in colorful clothes and with different types of guns passed by in front of me. I was able to see them from very close and take nice pictures and videos. I can’t wait to repeat it this year!

Le Pont Alexandre III is one of the most beautiful river crossing in the world. It is often chosen by famous artists for movies, video clips and photos so make sure you to see yourself the reason of its fame.
